Appletree

Appletree opened in 1995 with a mission to help support young children whose lives have been severely disrupted to grow socially and emotionally and learn to cope with school. We support them to return to families and day schools before they reach their teenage years. In 2008, through our Next Steps initiative, we extended our programme and opened Willow Bank to help the small number of Appletree children who still needed our support in their teenage years.

We now have three children's homes, Appletree & Fell House each have their own separate school. Willow Bank's education provision is tailored to the individual.

Appletree helps children with emotional, social and behavioural problems who have struggled in school but are academically able.

Fell House helps children with emotional, social, behavioural and learning difficulties who are more vulnerable in a larger group and benefit from an intensively nurturing environment. Both children's homes are registered with the Care Commission and have received excellent inspection reports.

Both schools are approved and have excellent OfSTED reports.

Willow Bank emulates a family experience that ensures a consistent focus on stability. Facilitating personalised education and developing life skills for independence with the best possible support.

We have also developed a superb clinical programme. The clinical team represent a partnership between Appletree, our local Primary Care Trust and the NSPCC.

They provide individual therapy for our children, clinical input for the children's individual programmes and clinical consultation for our care and teaching teams.

Between 2001 and 2006 we successfully re-integrated 75% of our children to their family or foster family and day schools. In 2007 this figure rose to 100%. Of those children, 90% are still with their family and day school.
